This action cannot be undone. Once deleted, we cannot restore your data.
Swiss Legal Requirements You Should Understand
Under Swiss law (Code of Obligations Art. 958f), businesses must retain accounting documents for 10 years. This includes:
- Annual financial statements
- Invoices and receipts
- Accounting books and journals
- Supporting documentation for tax purposes
What this means for you: Even after we delete your Magic Heidi data, you're legally required to maintain copies of these records. We strongly recommend exporting all data before deletion.

What Happens After You Request Deletion
Total processing time: Up to 30 days (as required by GDPR Article 17 and Swiss FADP)

⚖️ When We Cannot Immediately Delete Your Data
We're legally required to retain certain data even after a deletion request. Here's when and why:
Legal Retention Obligations
Swiss tax law requirements (10 years):
- If you've issued invoices through Magic Heidi within the past 10 years
- If you're currently under tax audit or investigation
- If there are outstanding VAT/tax obligations
In these cases: We'll block your data from processing and delete it after the legal retention period ends.
Ongoing Legal Matters
Active disputes or claims:
- If there's a legal dispute involving your account
- If we're required to preserve data for court proceedings
- If regulatory authorities have requested data preservation
We'll notify you if any legal exceptions apply and explain the retention period.
Technical Backup Limitations
Backup cycles: Data in encrypted backups may persist for up to 90 days until the backup rotation cycle completes. This data is:
- Inaccessible for any processing
- Not used for any business purposes
- Automatically purged when backup cycles refresh
- Maintained solely for disaster recovery
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I recover my data after deletion?
No. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We cannot restore your data once the process completes. This is why we strongly recommend exporting everything first.
What if I need my data for a tax audit?
Export all records before deletion. Swiss tax authorities may audit you up to 10 years after filing. Without access to your Magic Heidi data, you'll need those exports.
How long does deletion actually take?
We process deletion requests within 30 days (GDPR/FADP requirement). Most deletions complete within 14 days. You'll receive confirmation when finished.
What happens to my invoices sent to clients?
Your clients keep copies of invoices you sent them. Deletion only removes data from Magic Heidi's systems, not from your clients' records or email.
What about data I've shared with my accountant?
Any data you've previously exported and shared with your accountant remains in their possession. However, you won't be able to generate new exports after deletion. Export everything you need before requesting deletion.
Can I delete just some data instead of everything?
Yes. For selective data removal, contact our support team. You can request deletion of specific records while keeping your account active.
What about data shared with my bank?
Bank integrations are disconnected during deletion. Data already synchronized with your bank remains in your bank's systems (subject to their retention policies).
Do you sell my data before deleting it?
Never. We do not sell user data. Period. Your data is deleted as requested without any commercial use.
What if I change my mind after submitting?
Contact us immediately at privacy@magicheidi.com. If deletion hasn't completed (usually within 48 hours), we may be able to cancel the request.
Is this GDPR compliant?
Yes. Our deletion process fully complies with GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure) and Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). We respond within 30 days and confirm completion.
